Moving faces

This is the pattern of life, the Hod and Netzach, fluctuation and continuity,
that expresses the vibrational and directional (i.e., vector) energy contained within the foundation (יצירה) of the Kingdom (מלכות) of manifest reality.

Description:

It is the wave that continues in a certain direction towards a goal, a structure of some sort. We start off with a simpler illustration, reducing the wave to a line, and approximate it by a straight line that demarcates the “space” between the beginning and the end of an event, from its start to its finish.

We can beginning at $0$, the point of origin and the end, we can designate as $N$. Placing it in time, we have the beginning at $t_0$, and ending at $t_n$, producing a series of times, that we designate $t_0, t_1, t_2 … t_n$. Now that we have these “moments” in time, we can investigate neighbourhoods of each one, and their characteristics. Around $t_1$ we could investigate $(t_1)_0, (t_1)_1, (t_1)_2 ... (t_1)_k$. We could look for repititions, equivalences, increasing and decreasing sequences, etc. We can determine whether it is occurring in a closed field or not, and what operations work and what don’t. Thus we can begin to discover general characteristics about all the events under consideration. Furthermore, for those fields that present themselves as coherent, enable us to assume characteristics for other points that we are less certain about. That is how a model of reality emerges.

[!error] There are two pitfalls here:

• forgetting that it is always just an approximation/model of reality. This possibility increases in proportion to the, apparently, successful application of the model — which will always fail in the long-term, due to propagation of error(s).
• that this coherency is relative to the knowledge available at the time of observation, and that there might be a more fundamental coherency that we cannot see, until our knowledge has expanded to be able to describe this deeper level.

Now by acknowledging the space, often referred to as neighbourhood, around each point on the line, we have to face the fact that this line is just an idealisation of the reality of movement in this space. As well as the fact that the straight line is a single, ideal pathway, and that when something moves from $t_0$ to $t_n$ there are many possible pathways it can take.

The usefulness of this particular idealisation in both its pure, linear form, and its more general curvalinear form, has been amply demonstrated. And that is the really strange aspect of these “absurd” abstractions. Although not manifest in reality, they predict and describe events in reality so accurately, it is scary.

A closer abstraction is the sine_wave. Here, we represent an ideal one.

If our emotions, our beings, are following this pattern, we then rise up toward the light and sink down into darkness on a “regular” basis. It is impossible to prevent that. We can only learn to manage it. That is, stop crying victim, and set out to rectify it.
